Pukeko Nest Scientists!
This week we learnt about what a seed needs to grow. We watched the Tiny Seed a book by Eric Carle. We found that all plants need 5 things to grow. They are water, sun, soil, air and space.
On Friday we became scientists and investigated the tiny plant that is inside a seed. This is called an embryo.
We shared out a bag of frozen broad beans (thawed) and had fun removing the gray seed coat to reveal a bright green bean inside. We split the bean and were excited to discover the embryo inside.
Many of us then enjoyed eating our bean and came back to eat more! click on Embryo to see our investigation.
